Royal Corps of Signals

I served in the British Army in the 'Royal Corps Of Signals' as a 'Radio Tech X2' in Africa and the Middle-East as well as the UK. After leaving the 'Royal School of Signals', at Catterick and a spell at Durham University, my job entailed the repair and installation of equipment in use as manpack, mobile and static, out in the field with equipment I carried with me or where I set up a temporary workshop.

Picture of me just after getting my 'Radio Tech X2' trade badge (on right sleeve above stripes) ... badge of a circle with lightning flashes each side was knicknamed 'a flying arsehole'.

Examples of equipment I worked on

WS19 set (both A and B parts), 51 set, T52 set, WS33 set, WS31 set, 62 set, Don 10, R109, R107, R1155, test equipment, vehicle internal communication systems, power-units. Antenae systems from single '1/4 wave whip', through to giant static 'Rhombic', inter commonwealth communication arrays (COMCAN).
